The Walter Sickert Community Centre, Canonbury Crescent, N1 2FB

Walter Sickert Community Centre is currently run by the Canonbury Community Baptist Church. It is home to a lunch club for older people, the Dorcas Project, which is a befriending service for older people.  The hall is let to groups who run dance classes and after school study groups. The Church will move to their new home in Aran Walk in the summer.

Homes for Islington manage community centres for Islington but do not provide staff to undertake the day to day management. This means that a new organisation who can take on the running of the centre is being sought. A number of organisations have told us that they are interested in running the centre usually in return for using the space for their own activities some of the time.

We want to know what you think. Does the area need a community centre? Would you use a community centre? What activities would you use? Do you have the time to be on the management committee to help run the centre for the benefit of local people?
