Are you fair-minded? Non-judgemental? A good listener? Looking to learn new skills and make a difference in the community? If this describes you, Islington Council could really use your skills on an exciting new project to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in Islington. Restorative Justice Conferences bring together people harmed by low-level crime and anti-social behaviour with those responsible for causing that harm. Victims and perpetrators talk about what happened, who was affected, and what can be done to make things better. The Council needs your help so harmed people and wrongdoers can come together, find positive resolutions and move on with their lives.
The Council is looking for Islington volunteers from all walks of life, all ages (18+) and from all backgrounds to facilitate Restorative Justice Conferences. Volunteers will get all the training and guidance they need including free, accredited Restorative Justice Facilitator training, and support from the council and other partners. To find out more or request an information pack please contact Alison Blackburn on 020 7527 4051 or email alison.blackburn@islington.gov.ukby the end of May.
