Bulky waste items

Bulky waste is household waste that is too big for the bin and not suitable for reuse.  

Here are some examples of bulky waste items:  

• soiled carpets
• broken white goods (fridges/fridge freezers, washing machines, tumble dryers, cookers, etc) 
• mattresses
• broken televisions
• broken furniture. 

Garden waste, hazardous waste and builders' waste and commercial waste are not collected as part of the bulky waste service. 

Cost and number of items collected

There is a limit of 10 items per collection but you may book as many collections per year as you need.

Two securely tied black rubbish sacks count as one item.  

Half-price collections are available for residents who have a valid reference number to show they receive either housing benefit or Council Tax Support. 

Presenting bulky waste for collection

Place items outside the front of your property at ground-floor level by 7am on the day of collection. If you cannot leave items on your property, you can leave items on the street or public highway as long as they don't block access for pedestrians.

• Only the items you have pre-booked will be collected.
• Broken furniture that may have fallen apart needs to be bundled.
